Hatch, Whitman, Dreier to speak for CA GOP delegates

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. - The California delegation to the Republican National Convention will hear from a full and varied slate of speakers Wednesday before two Republicans identified with the state are scheduled to speak to the full convention later in the day.

At the delegation's caucus breakfast, scheduled speakers include U.S. Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), Delegation Chairman and former California Secretary of State Bill Jones, U.S. Rep. David Dreier (R-San Dimas), Guam Gov. Felix Camacho and Sidney McCain, daughter of presumptive Republican presidential nominee U.S. Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.).

Meg Whitman, former EBay CEO and a rumored gubernatorial candidate for 2010 in California, will also speak to the delegation in addition to making a speech at the convention itself Wednesday.

Selected cast members from the upcoming movie "An American Carol" are also scheduled to make an appearance during the breakfast program. The movie, a satirical attack on a filmmaker meant to resemble Michael Moore, stars Kevin Farley, Kelsey Grammer, Jon Voight and Dennis Hopper.

The delegation will then take a day trip to the Mall of America in Bloomington before going to the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul for tonight's convention schedule, which will culminate with the acceptance speech of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as the party's vice presidential nominee.

In addition to Whitman, former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina is also scheduled to speak at the convention Wednesday. She has also been discussed as a 2010 gubernatorial candidate in California.
