San Ramon Mayor Abram Wilson picked up an endorsement on Wednesday from an overlapping congressional district, with U.S. Rep. Dan Lungren (R-Gold River) backing Wilson in his race for the 15th Assembly District
In a press statement, the two-term lawmaker from the 3rd Congressional District said Wilson, a Republican, was the best pick to represent the sprawling 15th Assembly District.
"Mayor Wilson will be a respected new leader for our Republican Party and he'll bring proven budget discipline to the State Legislature," Lungren said in the statement. "Mayor Wilson has a great track record of bringing all political parties together to support sound financial policies."
Wilson's campaign noted that Lungren is the latest endorsement from the portion of the 15th that includes Sacramento County.
Other endorsements from that area include Elk Grove Vice Mayor Pat Hume and Galt Vice Mayor Randy Shelton, according to Wilson's website.
Wilson is facing school board member and Democrat Joan Buchanan in the Nov. 4 election. The 15th is a top target for both parties because of fairly narrow registration differences in the district.
