Democratic Congressional candidate Charlie Brown's new TV ad features a young Placer County couple - both Republicans - sharing their economic fears.
The couple, Craig and Dian Raether, discuss how they moved to the area because homes were affordable enough that Dian could stay home with their children.
Craig says in the commercial that the plan changed after he was laid off, and Dian had to go back to work as a result. A graphic text of a website address for Brown's economic plan is flashed on the screen.
The couple concludes that they're supporting Brown in his race against state Sen. Tom McClintock's (R-Thousand Oaks) for the 4th Congressional District seat.
"I think he's a straight shooter," Craig Raether says in the ad. "I think he understands the problems of government. That he understands the problems of people."
In a press release announcing the minute-long commercial's release, Brown reiterated a call for Congress to pass a Wall Street economic bailout package.
"With small businesses unable to access the credit they need to run their businesses and create jobs, retirees losing the savings they worked so hard to accumulate, and foreclosures reaching record levels, inaction by Congress is not an option," Brown said in the release.

The White People comment
was from a person who posted on the AZCentral comment board and not me; I just lifted it and pasted it here. Well, I guess they passed the bailout after adding "sweeteners" to the bill. This is nothing but bribery to get the Yes votes. Charlie Brown was not in the Navy, but if he were he would have been initiated as a shellback for crossing the Equater. If he ever gets to Washington, he will put his high-sounding words aside and be initiated in the dark arts of Capitol Hill and be a hack just like the rest.
Just so we're clear SDK ...
So there is more than one SunDevilKid posting? Because that was a quote from a previous post by someone calling themselves the SunDevilKid ... Bud
The Arizona Republic
That was a random poster from the Arizona Republic, not me. A lot of other people in the Valley of the Sun are against the bailout.
Move your white family ...?
SDK: What's you're thinking behind your statement "Can I get a loan so I can move my white family back to Europe?"

Life is tough
I am barely making ends meet in Arizona. Life has uncertainties. He should have thought about the cost beofre moving into that house. Deal with it!!
SunDevilKid
I'm glad to see you make fun of another man's misfortune.
Really classy.
Sane Hosuing decision
Here is a sample of a smart housing decision that a poster had on the Arizona Republic website. It is dummies like in this example that cause the market to collapse. Enjoy!!
"Hey what do I know? My house cost 195K in 2002. My neighbor bout the same floor plan in 2006 for $350K. In that time, I did not take a home equity loan, I made all my payement on time or early. Now, I'm still making my mortgage payment but my neighbor has long fled back to Californicator. The bank has his house, its empty and he was behind 6 months in payments. ( He had a renter but used their money to finance his new digs in Calif, and they were put out on the street with little notice).
If I was stupid, I could have taken a home equity loan of 125K and spent in on a bunch of crap, thinking I'd then sell my place when the market would support a 400K asking price. How many peple did just that, and now they broke the toys and still have the mortgage that includes them?
These people cry its not fair, my house value dropped my home isn't worth what I owe on it, someone has to fix this for me! Booo Hoooo Hoooo.
Jumping to the rescue, our politicians bail out the lenders who can then offer idiots like my neighbor a restructure plan. Well what about guys like me who conserved and kept it real? We're paying the tax dollars that will be used to bail out my idiot neighbors!
Can I get a do over too?, Can I get a loan so I can move my white family back to Europe?"
I should say...
nonsense on the Charlie Brown "campaign."
Count the Cost
Unlike this gentleman, I counted the cost of my living expenses. I hardly make enough money to move into my home and I also forsaw the silliness of the rising prices in the housing market and knew that the crash was coming.
So this man lost his job to a man in India. First of all, what do you think a business is going to do with a state income tax rate of nearly 10% and a state whose regulatory structure chokes most business? He will move the business.
This idea that we should not move jobs to India is the old protectionist game. Yeah, let the people in Banglaore, Chennai and Kolkata starve so that we can have the jobs. People whine in Michigan because the auto industry is going down the tubes. Maybe Detroit should have thought about making better cars than the Koreans and Japanese in order to make people buy American.
Oh, and Phoenix has been hit hard by the foreclosure crisis and nobody is screaming for Harry Mitchell's or Jeff Flake's heads for voting against the bailout. This is more invented nonsense on the Charlie Brown.
A Home Run!
What a great ad!! It goes right to the heart of the matter. This is no time to be "anti" this rescue plan, Mr. McClintock ... the evidence is already pouring in about the damage the House action caused on Monday ... The local banks have been screaming at the naysayers who stuck their finger in the air to take the public pulse on how to vote. Mr. "No" will have to offer a substantial substitute if he thinks he can get by with arguing for voting against this urgently needed bill.
This is a bipartisan effort, and has Charlie Brown has affirmed once again, patriotism comes before partisanship.
