Brown announces biggest quarterly haul to date

Charlie Brown, a Democrat running to take over the seat vacated by Republican John Doolittle in the 4th Congressional District, raised $249,000 in the first quarter of 2008. According to the campaign, that is Brown’s strongest fundraising quarter since 2006.

Brown, a retired Air Force Lieutenant Colonel, still has $600,000 remaining in cash-on-hand. He has raised a hair under $1 million.

Brown will compete against the winner of the increasingly bitter campaign between Tom McClintock and Doug Ose. “The sad truth is that while these two politicians are fighting each other, many families, veterans and others across America are fighting for survival,” Brown said in a statement released by the campaign.

Brown donates 5 percent of each dollar donated to charity, particularly for veterans.
