Boxer, Feinstein rip McCain for campaign suspension

California's two U.S. senators criticized Republican presidential nominee John McCain on Wednesday for suspending his campaign to return to Washington, D.C., to deal with pending legislation aimed at stabilizing the turbulent financial and economic environment.

U.S. Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-San Francisco) accused the Republican nominee of "engaging in political theater."

Boxer also hit McCain on his request to postpone Friday's scheduled presidential debate with Democrat Barack Obama in Oxford, Miss.

“This is certainly the right time for the American people to see these two candidates talk about the serious challenges our country faces both here and around the world,” Boxer said in a statement. “We need a president who can handle more than one challenge at a time. In life, when times get tough, you don't get time-outs.”

U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Oakland) said McCain's return to Capitol Hill would only make it harder to reach a compromise.

"Senator McCain's announcement won't help find a solution," said Feinstein in a statement. "It's a distraction, at a time when sober reflection is needed. Simply put, we must not inject Presidential politics into this process."

McCain, points for political theater, nothing for action.

McCain is an actor, he acts like he give a hoot but what is his campaign doing today?

Holding a bake sale to help out? No they are on t.v. attacking Obama. So what is the big deal about suspending his campaign?

Cheap talk Mr. McCain.

Any Time, Any Place, huh?

This issue has made it absolutely clear that McCain puts his country first; Obama puts his own self-interest first.

McCain blatantly coward

He said he is rushing to DC to fix the financial crisis. This was supposedly the reason he suspended his campaign and wanted to postpone the debate.

After the announcement he did not rush to DC fix the crisis. He went to calmly chat with Katie Couric on Wednesday evening. Then on Thursday morning we don't find him in DC, he is still in New York, to hang out with the millionaires of Clinton's global club. This is what is important to McCain.

But the American Public, who expect to see a debate on Friday evening, that for some reason is less important than Couric or Clinton. No, McCain doesn't want the debate because he fears it will hurt his campaign. He is a coward.
