McCain will join daughter for L.A. event Oct. 1

ANAHEIM – Republican nominee John McCain will join daughter Meghan for a campaign stop in Los Angeles on Oct. 1.
 
Andrea Jones, McCain's California campaign manager, said the Wednesday night event will likely be the senator from Arizona's last stop in California before the election.
 
The latest Field Poll had Obama leading McCain in California by 52 percent to 36 percent. California Republican Party officials say their success in down ballot races is closely linked to McCain's performance in the state.
 
"Regardless of how California goes in the presidential contest, how well we do at the top of the ticket will affect how well we do down the ticket," said CRP Chairman Ron Nehring at the party's annual convention.
 
The location and time of the McCain event have yet to be finalized.
