CRP crowd applauds Palin reference, business tax cuts

ANAHEIM - The crowd at the California Republican Party Convention has been largely quiet during the first half of tonight's presidential debate, though there were some exceptions.

Republican presidential nominee John McCain's pledge to cut taxes for businesses received wide applause here, but it was a reference to his running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, that caused the largest outburst of the evening so far.

"I've got a partner that's a good maverick with me now," said McCain, prompting loud applause.
