Schwarzenegger rallies troops, says McCain needs help

ANAHEIM - Gov. Schwarzenegger addressed the California Republican Convention moments after the presidential debate ended, receiving loud applause as he said, "It's great to be back here with my Republican friends."

"I want to do everything I can to make sure Sen. McCain wins," said Schwarzenegger. "I think he needs a lot of help."

Schwarzenegger also praised McCain's debate performance. "When I look at this debate, it made me feel so proud," said the governor. "Let's be honest, he's the only one who recognizes when you don't have the money, you don't go out and spend more money."

Schwarzenegger waxed poetic about his first visit to the United States in 1968. "This reminds me of the presidential election of 1968, the issues are pretty much the same," he said. "It was actually President Nixon that made me become a Republican."
