U.S. Rep. Mary Bono Mack (R-Palm Springs) voted for the $700 emergency rescue package Monday and blamed House Democrats for the bill's failure.
"This represents a failure of leadership by the House Majority," Bono Mack said in a statement, "and I am saddened that politics came before the needs of the American people."
After blaming the Democrats, Bono Mack said that "the finger-pointing needs to stop so that we can move forward."
Bono Mack's challenger for the 45th Congressional District, Julie Bornstein (D-Palm Desert), would have reluctantly voted yes on the bill, according to campaign manager Walter Ludwig.
"The time for another investigation is not while the house is on fire," said Ludwig. Bornstein, who has worked from both sides of the mortgage business, would like to see a bill "with stronger golden parachute restrictions" and one that would give the federal government "the ability to actually renegotiate to keep people in their homes."

What a Bono headed statement.
First she points the finger of blame at the Democratic leadership then says let's not point fingers. Which is it Mary?
Republican deregulation has taken it's toll. Ever since Reagan and the Republican Revolution they have been deregulating markets.
Now the Republicans act like the dog that has crapped on the carpet. They look at you like you did it and want to know what your going to do to fix it.
Bad dog, no re-election.
Yes we can.
