The U.S. House of Representatives passed the Senate's marked-up version of an emergency economic rescue package Friday with strong support from the California congressional delegation, more than two-thirds of whom voted for the legislation.
Seven Golden State Democrats who had voted no on the original bailout bill last week came out in support of the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act. All nine Republicans who voted against the previous proposal took identical stances Friday.
Twenty-six Democrats from California voted for the reformed bailout bill, with eight opposing it. On the other side of the aisle, the tally remained unchanged since last week, with 10 Republican representatives supporting the legislation and nine voting against it.
