CRP mailer likens Block to a 'wacky' San Francisco politician

The California Republican Party has sent out a series of mailers to San Diego Republicans contrasting state Assembly candidate John McCann (R-Chula Vista) with his opponent, Marty Block (D-San Carlos), and painting Block as out of touch with San Diego values.

One hard-hitting mailing lists "John McCann's San Diego Values" side by side with "Marty Block's Values." The flier attacks Block's positions on crime, illegal immigration, and taxes, and claims that the former San Diego State University professor "supports 'Hillary Clinton' style universal health care."

Another mailing looks to capitalize on anti-San Francisco sentiment.

"Assembly candidate Marty Block may live in San Diego," reads the flier, "but his values are straight from San Francisco."

The campaign literature claims Block wants to raise taxes and attacks him for supporting gay marriage, concluding that Block is "just plain wacky like a San Francisco politician."

The CRP attacks are the latest in the battle for the open seat in the 78th Assembly District, where Republican Shirley Horton is termed out.

"San Francisco is that liberal bastion," said John Kern, a veteran San Diego consultant. "Can they legitimately tie Marty Block to it? I don't know."

Democrats have a significant registered voter advantage in the district, but Republicans remain confident that they will hold onto to the hotly-contested seat.

Gee the CRP is calling someone liberal ... so this is news?

With Republicans on the run all over the state and nation the only thing they have left is name calling.

Name calling in a time of troubles isn't a solution and it isn't a coincidence that the Republicans are out of solutions but have a snot locker full of name calling in their greedy little souls.

See you in November.
