CRP charges SoCal Dem. Parties with voter registration interference

The California Republican Party has filed a complaint against the California Democratic Party and a number of "affiliated groups," charging them with interfering with voter registration activities in Ventura, San Bernardino and Riverside Counties.

The CRP issued formal letters to the U.S. Attorney's office and the Ventura County District Attorney, requesting investigations into a number of incidents where Democratic groups filed false reports of alleged violation of voter registration laws.

The letters also cite a $5,000 reward offered by the San Bernardino Democratic Central Committee for information that leads to the arrest of any individual associated with CRP voter registration efforts.

"We believe this 'reward' effort was intended to intimidate voter registration activities...by fostering potentially threatening or violent confrontations," reads the Democrats’ letter.

The three counties are home to some of the most competitive races in the state, including the battle for the open seat in the 19th Senate District, where former state Assembly members Hannah-Beth Jackson (D-Santa Barbara) and Tony Strickland (R-Thousand Oaks) vie to replace state Sen. Tom McClintock (R-Thousand Oaks).

Sure you did. I find that

Sure you did. I find that hard to believe given that the CRP and local Party follow up and verify each and every registration card. Further, every instance of alleged "slamming" has been investigated and dropped.

I was slammed

I signed a petition last month at Walmart in Highland for keeping rapists off campuses. I was a registered as an Independent. I was surprised when I read in the paper that people were getting slammed and how so I called the SB voter registration and they told me I was a republican. I have re-registered and will never sign a petition again.
