With the Dodgers pushing deeper into the playoffs, local pols are lining up to show their support. City Councilman Tom LaBonge wasn't to be left out and put up a wager on the locals.
LaBonge, who represents Los Angeles' third council district, has bet Philadelphia Councilman Curtis Jones, Jr., that the L.A. Dodgers will prevail against the Philadelphia Phillies in the National League Championship Series, and is putting some of the city's famous food on the line, according to the Daily News.
LaBonge anted up a case of Dodger Dogs and some locally-produced pumpkin bread courtesy of the nuns at the Monastery of the Angeles. His cross-country foe bet a six-foot long Philly cheese steak. Each councilman sought to educate the other on his city's history, adding to the wager some history books about Los Angeles and Philadelphia, respectively.
The NLCS opens Thursday in Philadelphia.
