In a new ad by the independent group Vote Vets, Orange County Young Democrats President Jason Bensley accuses John McCain of putting his "rich friends ahead of vets like me."
In the ad, Bensley, an Iraq war veteran, says McCain skipped a vote on the new GI Bill to attend a San Diego fundraiser.
"I used to respect you, Sen. McCain," Bensley says, "but with your seven houses and lobbyist friends, you're just a Washington guy now."
The group is spending $350,000 to air the hard-hitting ad in the swing state of Virginia, where military votes are crucial to McCain's success.

McCain sez, "Everyone has a chance to marry a rich woman."
Shameless John Sidney McCain III said that the Webb G.I. bill would lure too many service people out of service. Better to keep the troops lean and hungry.
This guy wears $500 shoes and his old lady owns so many homes that they can't keep track. Benefits for veterans?
Let's not forget that he wants to slap a tax on our employer provided health care insurance. By definition that is a tax on the working people of this country. Why does McCain hate the middle class?
