Ann Barnett, the Kern County Clerk who made national headlines last week when she announced that she would no longer perform county wedding ceremonies following the California Supreme Court's ruling legalizing gay marriage, may be facing a recall from office.
Or not.
The Bakersfield Californian reported in this story that a man walked into the county election's ofice and asked for a package of recall papers. While he did not give his name, the person helping him quoted him saying that it was his intention to recall Barnett..
“He asked for a recall packet and said it was for Ann Barnett,” said Sandy Brockman, county elections chief, over the weekend. “But people pick up recall packets all the time and a lot of times they don’t realize the work that’s required.”
About 38,000 signatures — or 10 percent of registered voters in Kern — would have to sign a petition in order to get a recall measure on the ballot, Brockman said.

recall Ann Barnett
I'm straight, but I can't wait to sign a recall petition to boot out Barnett !
Why didn't she just come out and be honest, having faith that "god" would protect her? But hypocrite that she is, she lied, over and over again. Sounds like a good Christian to me and a fundamentalist at that. Very dangerous.
I would imagine that since she did lie about the civil marriages being a financial looser, she should be ejected just for that alone. The math is clear. It was a money maker. No one would object to a rate hike of $10.00 - $20.00. Even more revene for the City! There are no security issues, there never have been before, unless a crazy Christian wanted to walk in with a bomb, but I'd worry more about Ann Barnett being the security risk. Like I said, a fundamentalist. Not enough room and a strain on her personnel; again lies. She makes the rest of the county look bakward. No wonder Kern County is the butt of so many jokes and I'm not a liberal.
