The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is planning to spend slightly more than $2 million on TV advertising for two House races in California, campaign finance documents obtained by PolitickerCA.com on Monday show.
As part of a massive overall $53 million national "buy," the DCCC will spend $2.03 million in support of Democratic candidate Charlie Brown in his race against GOP candidate Tom McClintock in Congressional District 4. Both are vying to succeed retiring Republican Congressman John T. Doolittle in the Northeastern California district.
That purchase will also go toward supporting incumbent Congressman Jerry McNerney (D-Pleasanton) in Congressional District 11. McNerney is facing GOP challenger and former state lawmaker Dean Andal of Stockton for the seat.
How the advertising buy will be exactly split between the two Democrats wasn't immediately known Monday.
The TV ads are expected to begin appearing in September and October. The Washington Post's Chris Cillizza lays out the entire scope of the DCCC's purchase in this story posted today.
