FBI serves subpoena as part of investigation into former Oakland city administrator

OAKLAND - The FBI has apparently served a subpoena to Oakland city officials as part of an investigation into alleged improprieties by former City Administrator Deborah Edgerly.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle in this story, the subpoena was served to collect information on Edgerly and her children and relatives that worked for or continue to be employed by the city. The agency apparently also sought time sheets, vacation chits, sick leave and other personnel records from the city.

Although the Chronicle claims to have "confirmed" the presence of the Aug. 6 subpoena, the FBI, as is its normal practice, neither confirmed nor denied the existence of the document.

Edgerly and her representatives as well as city officials all declined comment on the probe. The longtime city administrator was fired earlier this summer by Mayor Ron Dellums after she was accused of interfering in an Oakland Police gang investigation that involved one her relatives. Edgerly has consistently denied all wrongdoing.
