Nancy Pelosi on McCain's veep selection: 'Palin is not the right choice'

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-San Francisco) issued the following statement Friday on Sen. John McCain's selection of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his vice presidential running mate:

"The selection of a vice presidential candidate is one of the most significant and telling decisions a presidential candidate can make.

John McCain's selection of Sarah Palin raises serious questions about his judgment. Why, when the country is fighting two wars, facing an uncertain economy and an energy crisis, did Senator McCain make the choice that he did?

Why, with so many other qualified women and men in his party, did John McCain choose Sarah Palin? Sarah Palin is not the right choice. She shares John McCain's commitment to overturning Roe v. Wade and continuing George Bush's failed economic policies.

John McCain and Sarah Palin will not bring the American people the New Direction they need."

If Nancy Pelosi spent as much time trying to build up instead of tearing down there might be some improvement in congress. Isn't that what part of her duties should be as a Speaker of the House! She slings her mudd against John McCain and Sarah Palin, when Barack Obama has very little experience himself. And he is a presidential candidate not a vice president candidate.

Nancy Pelosi and the democratic party couldn't do anything to immediately lower gas prices for you... any decisions on expanding drilling or tapping into other reserves would take a decade to extract 2 years of oil! Besides, the U.S. oil companies prefer to sell our oil to Japan and Australia because they can profit more.

Oil drilling completely drains the site of all nutrients in the ground, and the site never fully recovers. Sarah Palin is reckless; you cannot drill oil anywhere because it could possibly hurt the state economy (not to mention the environment).

Oil companies have many sites with leases they are currently not drilling at the moment. However, they don't mind ignoring the sites to push oil prices up.

It seems that you are a "loon" because most of your comments are insults instead of facts.

Nancy Pelosi, the woman deserving to be impeached, the biggest irrevelevent airhead leading her party to the lowest approval rating for congress in history is considering herself an authority on Sarah Palin???!!!! Just like Jimmy Carter, who cares what she thinks!!! She doesn't think at all!! Nancy Pelosi is an embarrassment to even her own party let alone to women - she does NOT represent me on ANY level - this woman who, in response to why she left on a 5 week vacation while I had to pay 4plus dollars a gal of gas all that time is: "I am trying to save the planet..."????? too am a mother (working) but feel that if you have 5 children and one who has downs, a VP of the US is not a priority.
