Fearing McNerney will copy his employer's homework, Andal spokesman declines comment on bailout

If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, then Dean Andal, the Republican challenger in the CA-11 race, must have a pretty healthy self-image.

Although this week's $700 billion Wall Street bailout is arguably one of the most significant issues members of Congress will vote on this year, Andal spokesman Richard Temple told Lodi News-Sentinel reporter Ross Farrow this that his boss wasn't going to comment on the funding bill designed to stabilize the wildly bucking American economy.

Why no comment from Andal, a political veteran who previously served in the State Legislature and the Board of Equalization?

Read for yourself from Farrow's story:

"Andal's spokesman, Richard Temple of Sacramento, said it would be inappropriate of Andal to comment on the bailout bill because he is not in office. Temple said he is concerned that any statement Andal makes may affect the way McNerney votes in the future."

Andal's opponent, Democratic incumbent Congressman Jerry McNerney, voted for the funding bill which was ultimately defeated.
