Protesters expected out in force for Palin's Northern California fundraiser

BURLINGAME - Several hundred protesters are expected to greet GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin here Sunday as she arrives for a fundraising brunch event.

Republican Party organizers have said they expect some 1,500 supporter-donors to join the Alaska governor for brunch at the Burlingame Hyatt Regency starting at 10:30 a.m.

The fundraiser, which had originally been scheduled for Sept. 25 but was postponed, has sold out.

"(Sunday) will not be a party for Palin," vowed Bob Mulholland, campaign adviser to the California Democratic Party.

"Governor Palin and John McCain are not liked in California: (They are) wrong on Bush Jr; Wrong on the economy; Wrong on Iraq; Wrong on the redistribution of middle class tax cuts to the wealthiest; Wrong on choice (women will go to jail who choose an abortion if they get Roe v. Wade overturned); Wrong on health care and Wrong for California," Mulholland added in a statement to PolitickerCA.com

Alongside protesters, Republican Party members and other Palin supporters will gather in hopes of showing the governor she is welcome in the Bay Area, said Nicholas Rice-Sanchez, a staff member with the San Mateo County Republican Party.

"We anticipate that there are going to be protesters and we want to show the governor that she has support in the Bay Area," Nicholas Rice-Sanchez of the San Mateo County Republican Party told the Daily Journal of San Mateo. "We will be there with signs, cheering her on when she arrives. Hopefully she will hear us clapping."

Rice-Sanchez said Palin supporters are welcome to bring homemade signs and meet at the San Mateo County Republican Party's office, 875 Mahler Road, Suite 250 starting at 9:30 a.m. Together they will walk over to the nearby Hyatt from there.

On Saturday Palin was greeted by throngs of protesters in the Los Angeles County suburb city of Carson.

The event, held at the Home Depot Center, was thought to have drawn as many as10,000 people - supporters and detractors alike. The Courage Campaign, an online organizing campaign of grassroots and netroots progressives in California, hired a plane to fly a large banner over the Carson event saying: "Sarah Palin: Thanks but no thanks. No on Prop. 4."

The latter is a reference to Palin's strong pro-life, anti-abortion stance and to a California ballot measure that, if approved by the voters, would require medical personnel to notify a parent or guardian before performing an abortion on a female minor.

You gotta be kidding me

The commenters who think Palin is going to 'save' this nation....I have a bridge to sell ya.

The reason we are in such trouble in this country is due to the Republican policies of the past 8 years.

God help the US if we end up with another 4-years of failed policies.

And Palin is just doing what she is told. They won't even let her do a press conference! She adds nothing to the ticket except estrogen.

And that is not enough for this feminist!

Palin in Cali

The McCain-Palin ticket has a LOT of support in Calif. We voted in a Republican Govenor, don't think we can't vote in a Republican POTUS. Many people I have spoken to KNOW Obama's lies and DO NOT trust him to become the next President. HE lacks the experience.

As for Sarah's qualifications for VP, Reagan became POTUS after being a Govenor of this great state of Calif. She can DEFINATELY be the next V.P. based on her Governorship of Alaska. I'm glad to see Palin here and hope she sticks around as long as she can.

A Misleading Post

I am curious as to whether the author of this post was actually at the rally. There is no way that someone who was there would describe the Obama protesters as "throngs" of people. There were a handful of them and the media gave them far more attention than they deserved, including this misleading blog post.

I was actually at the rally from about 9am until the police officers asked everyone to clear out. I was surprised that there weren't more protesters there, given the earlier threats to do so.

As for the Courage Campaign banner, I'm not sure that it was very well thought through. All it did was create interest in Prop 4 among a crowd who loves Sarah Palin. They may not have heard of it before, but if that sign is right and Sarah Palin is in favor of Prop 4, then thousands of people in that stadium just found another reason to vote YES on 4.

Misleading - very FEW Palin Protesters in SoCal

The statement in the above article is very misleading: "The event, held at the Home Depot Center, was thought to have drawn as many as 10,000 people - supporters and detractors alike."

I was there. CBS just reported that there were 10,000 people inside and 10,000 people outside. 99% of these people were Palin supporters. The "protesters" were very small in number. I did not see more than 20 Obama people. The stadium was packed with people waving McCain/Palin signs. I went representing PUMAs and we ran into a bunch of PUMAs and saw other Hillary supporters for Palin there as well.

The plane did fly around and it was a bit of a joke, considering the huge enthusiastic crowd there for Palin. Even the LA President of NOW showed up to introduce Palin. That's REAL feminism.

Maybe that's the wind

Maybe that's the wind blowing out of your ass. Palin is an ignorant joke. She should know better than to set foot here.

There is a new wind blowing

There is a new wind blowing in America. It started to blow with the GOP convention and after the Palin-Biden debate, it created that much of an energy that it became unstoppable. It is the Palin Power wind that is blowing throug America and through the world. It is bringing the government back to the people, it will creates jobs for every American, it will restore healthcare and for sure it will keep America safe.....
