Gov’s office to legislators: Unhappy about veto? Try again next time

Gov. Schwarzenegger's press secretary said the legislators unhappy with the governor's veto of their bills earlier this week stand in contrast to many legislators who the governor worked with on bills that he signed.

"The governor has stood behind Republicans and Democrats on bills that were moving the issue forward," said press secretary Aaron McLear. "The governor is always looking forward to working with legislators."

"We believe that Californians are sending enough of their money to Sacramento," said Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger's press secretary, Aaron McLear, "and we ought to live within our means."

McLear was responding to a proposal by Democrats in the state Senate to raise taxes by $11.5 billion, "more than double the tax increase proposed by their counterparts in the Assembly," the San Jose Mercury News reported.
