Andal disclosures reveal financial depth of relationship with college campus developer

A review of CA-11 challenger Dean Andal's personal financial disclosure forms this week sheds further light on why the Stockton Republican was such an animated force for the development of a Delta College satellite campus in the planned community of Mountain House just outside of Tracy.

Andal, a former state lawmaker, Board of Equalization member and now congressional candidate who has made ethics and honesty in government a part of his campaign platform, had a lucrative deal with Kamilos where he was set to receive one-half a percent bonus of any future land sales involved in the Mountain House development.

On the disclosure form's "Schedule V - Agreements" Andal, in what appears to be his own handwriting, discloses that on Nov. 30, 2004 he was to receive:

Andal finally reveals position on Wall Street bailout: Opposed. McNerney calls after-the-fact answer expedient

The heretofore press shy GOP challenger in the CA-11 race revealed his position on the $700 billion federal bailout of Wall Street this week.

Dean Andal, who commonly refuses to respond to media inquiries, told the Bay Area News Group this week that he would have voted against the bailout.

"I do agree that some federal intervention was needed. There is a credit squeeze. But what we got was a big mess and a bunch of congressmen who have very little clue about what they are voting on," Andal, a Stockton Republican, said in the story.

First of two forums in CA-11 race cancelled due to Wall Street bailout bill vote

The first of just two debates between Congressman Jerry McNerney and GOP challenger Dean Andal was cancelled Friday because the congressman stayed in Washington to vote on the $700 billion Wall Street bailout bill.

The first forum was to be shot on videotape at Contra Costa Television studios in Martinez and then broadcast wide on local cable TV channels. The program, sponsored by the League of Women Voters and a local newspaper, was also to be posted on that newspaper's Web site.

Fearing McNerney will copy his employer's homework, Andal spokesman declines comment on bailout

If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, then Dean Andal, the Republican challenger in the CA-11 race, must have a pretty healthy self-image.

Although this week's $700 billion Wall Street bailout is arguably one of the most significant issues members of Congress will vote on this year, Andal spokesman Richard Temple told Lodi News-Sentinel reporter Ross Farrow this that his boss wasn't going to comment on the funding bill designed to stabilize the wildly bucking American economy.

NRCC's Cole set to campaign for Andal, McClintock

WASHINGTON – National Republican Congressional Committee chair Tom Cole is set to launch a three-week national tour of competitive house races, beginning with stops in two hotly contested districts in California.

While the schedule is still tentative, according to an NRCC source familiar with the plans, the trip will bring Cole to California’s 11th and 4th Congressional Districts on Oct. 2 and Oct. 3, respectively. The 11th district matchup features Republican Dean Andal challenging U.S. Rep. Jerry McNerney (D-Stockton), while Republican Tom McClintock is battling Democrat Charlie Brown in the 4th district.

Cole, a third term congressman from Oklahoma who is in his first stint as the GOP House campaign chief, is a top fundraising draw for House candidates across the country.

Publisher of conservative FlashReport launches sharp-tongued anti-McNerney blog

Jon Fleischman, one of the Golden State's most popular conservative bloggers, has recently launched a new a blog designed to keep Congressman Jerry McNerney from being reelected to office this fall.

Fleischman, the publisher of the FlashReport, has launched the "One Term is Enough" blog in an effort to help derail the freshman Democrat's reelection effort in the California 11th Congressional District and because the CA-11 contest is arguably the most competitive race in the state.

"I am doing this because I feel, like many others, that Jerry McNerney ran a bogus public agenda as a moderate when in fact his actions in office have shown him to be an extreme liberal," Fleischman told PolitickerCA.com on Monday.

"Feel free to fully take into account who I am and the politics I subscribe to, but the facts are the facts, McNerney is bad on earmarks and he's extreme on the issues," Fleischman added.

To date, One Term is Enough, co-written with Fleischman colleague Brandon Howard, has posted stories carrying such headlines as "Code Pink Hearts McNerney," and "McNerney's Million Dollar Special Interest Earmark."

Fleischman said that while he supports McNerney's opponent in the CA-11 race, Stockton Republican Dean Andal, he is not working for Andal.

Dean Andal to appear for Q&A event hosted by Golden Gate and Castro Valley Minutemen

DUBLIN - Dean Andal, the quixotic GOP challenger seeking to unseat Congressman Jerry McNerney in the California 11th Congressional District this November, will speak before a gathering of Minutemen in Dublin on Saturday.

The Castro Valley and Golden Gate chapters of the anti-illegal immigration organization will host a Q&A featuring the Stockton Republican at the Bagel Street Cafe, 4101 Dublin Blvd. starting at 11 a.m.

The appearance is just one of a few public appearances Andal, a former state lawmaker, has made during what observers say has, so far, been a low-key campaign for a challenger.

Following the event members of the Minutemen said they will then do some precinct walking for Andal in the Dublin area.
