California prison guard union drops recall effort of Schwarzenegger

The spokesman for California Correctional Peace Officers Association said this week that the powerful prison guards union would drop its efforts to recall Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Lance Corcoran, the spokesman for the state prison guards union, was arrested Monday night by the California Highway Patrol on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Governor's spokesman blasts prison guard union recall threats as the actions of a 'schoolyard bully'

SACRAMENTO - Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said Monday that he was having none of the state prison guard union's threats to recall him from office.

On Sunday the spokesman for the California Correctional Peace Officers Association told the San Francisco Chronicle that the powerful union was seriously considering launching a recall effort of the Golden State's celebrity governor.

Lance Corcoran told the paper that the union was considering the move in part because its members have not received a salary raise this year.

On Monday, Adam Mendelsohn, the governor's senior adviser, said that his boss wasn't terribly impressed by the threat.
