McClintock campaign claims victory in CA-04

State Sen. Tom McClintock's congressional campaign claimed victory Friday evening, saying the final vote count in Placer and Nevada counties gave the Republican a 1,793-vote lead that Democrat Charlie Brown can't overcome.

"There doesn't seem to be any way statistically he could do it," said Bill George, a spokesman for McClintock.

According to the Placer County elections Web site, McClintock received 85,357 votes there, to 81,850 for Brown. The percentages were 50.9 percent for McClintock to 48.8 percent for Brown.

Brown closes to less than 400 votes of McClintock's lead

Democrat Charlie Brown closed to within 329 votes of Republican Tom McClintock Friday in the ongoing ballot count for the 4th Congressional District race.

Brown, from Roseville, was as close to McClintock's lead as he'd been since Election Day, and an e-mail to campaign supporters said that provisional ballots from Nevada County deserved the credit.

Huber trails by 1,000 in AD-10, no change in CA-04 vote totals

Jack Sieglock's lead in the 10th Assembly District race rose to 1,007 votes Thursday, though the percentages did not change between him and Democrat Alyson Huber.

Sieglock, a Republican from Lodi, had 46.9 percent of the vote and 84,314 votes to 46.3 percent of the vote and 83,307 votes for Huber, an attorney from El Dorado Hills.

In CA-04, McClintock lead now at 592 votes over Brown

A slight bump in counted ballots boosted State Sen. Tom McClintock's showing in the 4th Congressional District race Wednesday, to a lead of 592 votes at 4:48 p.m. over Democrat Charlie Brown.

McClintock  (R-Thousand Oaks) had 170,125 votes to 169,533 for Brown, from Roseville. The percentages in the race remained unchanged, at 50.1 percent for McClintock to 49.9 percent for Brown.

Huber still trailing Seiglock in AD-10 vote count

The two candidates in Assembly District 10 were separated by 1,007 votes Wednesday, with Republican Jack Sieglock remaining in the lead with 46.9 percent of the vote to 46.3 percent of the vote for Democrat Alyson Huber.

Though thousands of ballots remained to be counted in that race early last week, it was not clear Wednesday how many ballots were still outstanding.

McClintock holds lead in CA-04 ballot counts

The margin changed little Tuesday in the 4th Congressional District ballot count, with state Sen. Tom McClintock (R-Thousand Oaks) holding a 562-vote lead over Democrat Charlie Brown of Roseville.

Percentages in the race remained the same, with 50.1 percent favoring McClintock and 49.9 percent favoring Brown.

Supporters thank Fargo for work as mayor

SACRAMENTO CITY HALL - Outgoing Mayor Heather Fargo accepted well wishes, hugs and thanks from dozens of supporters Tuesday, as she prepared to leave office at the end of the month in favor of Nov. 4 victor Kevin Johnson.

Fargo, mayor since 2000 and the city's first full-time mayor, allowed others to do most of the speaking for her at a farewell event, saying only that she would make her farewell remarks before a City Council meeting later Tuesday.

The community that elected Kevin Johnson as the next mayor of Sacramento - and the first who's an African-American - is invited to a "swearing-in" event next Tuesday.

Johnson and others will speak at the "Together We Can" event at Sacramento's historic Memorial Auditorium, which will also host live entertainment and nonprofit groups as part of the celebration.

Sieglock lead up to 946 votes on Huber in AD-10

Republican Jack Sieglock's 10th Assembly District lead held steady Monday evening, up by 946 votes over Democrat Alyson Huber.

As of 5:42 p.m. on Monday, the California Secretary of State's Web site had Sieglock with 84,175 votes and 46.9 percent of the vote and Huber with 83,229 votes and 46.3 percent of the vote.

No victor yet in CA-04, both campaigns confident

The 4th Congressional District race between Republican Tom McClintock and Democrat Charlie Brown remained close Monday, with McClintock leading by 622 votes as of 5:42 p.m. out of a total of more than 339,000 cast.

McClintock had 50.1 percent of the vote to 49.9 percent for Brown, the narrowest margin for any remaining "close race" in California.
