Wall Street Journal takes story of Perata's FBI corruption probe to national stage

While the phrase "There is no such thing as bad publicity" was undoubtedly coined by a wily politician, state Senate President Pro Tem Don Perata received some publicity Friday that Democratic leader would just as soon do without.

While news of Perata's FBI corruption probe has been written about repeatedly around the Golden State, the now years-long scandal never quite made it to the national media stage - until today that is.

Readers turning to Page A-4 of this morning's Wall Street Journal would have seen a photo of Perata (D-Oakland) and a lengthy story about the investigation which is rumored to be close to wrapping up soon and which may or may not return criminal indictments against the career lawmaker.

Will McCain consider Fiorina for VP?

There is some talk that former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina could receive consideration as a candidate for Vice President.  Republican National Committee Co-Chairman Frank Donatelli told the Wall Street Journal that he would not rule her out. Fiorina, a Los Altos Hills resident, is one of John McCain's top economic advisors, and a top RNC fundraiser.  Fiorina has also attracted some attention as a possible candidate for the 2010 Republican nomination for Governor.
