No California speakers at convention's second night

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. - The second night of the Republican National Convention will not include any speakers from California.

Former U.S. Treasurer Rosario Marin, who heads the state's consumer services agency, was bumped from her speaking spot as a result of the shuffling that took place when Monday's session was shortened and simplified.

A list of Tuesday's speakers released by the Republican National Convention includes President Bush via satellite, former U.S. Sen. Fred Thompson (R-Tenn.) and U.S. Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.).

Biden had little presence in California

U.S. Sen. Joe Biden (D-Del.) had little presence in California during the Democratic presidential primary campaign, suggesting he may need to re-introduce himself to voters as Barack Obama's vice presidential running mate.

According to a campaign tracker on The Washington Post's website, Biden made his last stop in California in May 2007, for a town hall meeting and a later speech in San Francisco. Biden dropped out of the race in early 2008, after a series of losses in early primaries.

Thompson signs with William Morris

Fred Thompson could be headed back to Hollywood.  The former U.S. Senator and unsuccessful presidential candidate has signed with the William Morris Agency, something The Huffington Post suggests is a signal that he will return to acting. 

Thompson dropped his bid for the 2008 GOP presidential nomination after poor showings in early primary and caucus state.
