Obama's VP pick
By Wally S. EdgeThere are reports that presumptive Democratic presidential nominee U.S. Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) may announce his vice presidential running mate as early as tomorrow. According to the tea leaf readers, the top three contenders for the position are U.S. Sen. Joe Biden (D-Del.), U.S. Sen. Evan Bayh (D-Ind.) and Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine (D).
Among the three, Biden appears to have the largest fundraising base in the state.
In his 2002 re-election campaign, the senator from Delaware raised about $300,000 from 367 California donors. Bayh's 2004 race drew the support of 226 contributors from the state who gave a total of $260,000. And Kaine raised just over $100,000 from Californians for his 2005 gubernatorial campaign.
