Westly has the right stuff...

As the 2010 Gubernatorial race is soon to begin, it doesn't surprise me in the least that former State Controller, Steve Westly, is already in a lead position. If not for an old cronie system that brought us another four years of Arnold, our State would not be debt ridden and looking to cut our kid's education to the bone. The facts are that Westly's business experience, fiscal discipline, and techo-smarts are just the remedy our state needs to permanently right itself after Schwarzenegger's "business first, the people, well, somewhere way down the list" fiasco. Westly is not Republican light either -- An active environmentalist for 30 years, an unwaivering Pro-choice advocate, a strong supporter of Gay Marriage (well before so many "main stream" candidates even dared to address the issue).
It's not too late for California to rebuild itself and once again be a world-class example for the world. Westly's private sector work has promoted new clean / green industries and he is a strong advocate for California leading the way on Stem Cell research. I don't know about you, but as a parent of two college age kids, I want them to find "clean" job prospects and a plethora of quality opportunities that can actually benefit both themselves and the planet. Westly has recognized this very need long ago -- quality jobs with an aim for social responsiblity. I'm so glad to see that California is done being star-struck and is ready to move on.
